THE PIANO COMPETITION WILL BE HELD IN OCTOBER 2009.

You can consult the program of the past competition for more information concerning repertoire requirements and time limits for each Round of the Competition.
The program 2009 may be affected by changes.

PIANO COMPETITION
(November 9 - 17, 2007)


Age limit

1) The 58th Gian Battista Viotti International Music Competition 2007 is open to pianists of all nationality born after 17 November 1974.

Rules
2) All music must be performed from memory.
3) First prize winners in former Vercelli International Competitions are not allowed to compete in the section for which they were awarded for the prize.
4) All competitors must arrive at the Secretary of the Competition in Vercelli by 4.00pm on the day of convocation to attend an information meeting and the drawing ceremony. The day of convocation will be communicated to the competitors by express mail.
5) The performing order of contestants determined by drawing before the first round will be maintained throughout the Competition except for the final round in which the order will be established by the members of the Jury.
6) The candidate who, for whatever reason, takes part in the Competition without possessing all the requirements prescribed by the regulations immediately loses every right concerning the Competition.
7) Candidates are advised to remain in Vercelli, and must be available at all times during the whole period when they are competing.
8) All the music performed must be published. The pianists must supply the Jury, before each performance, with copies of the scores of their program in the edition used by them.
9) The decisions of the Jury are final; in case of differences of interpretation of the Competition Regulations, the Italian text will be held as definitive.
10) The Organising Committee may eliminate from the Competition one or more sections in case of a deficiency in the number of participants, in such a case, those concerned will be promptly informed and the entrance fee will be refunded.
11) In case of radio or television broadcast of a round or a concert, contestants have no financial or other rights, as regards the broadcasting and telecasting of the same. Participation in the Competition implies a tacit agreement of this above-mentioned rule.
12) The first prize is indivisible. The second and the third prize can be awarded ex aequo. In this case the amount will be divided in half. The Jury can decide not to award any prize.
13) Prize-winners of the International Music Competition G.B. Viotti of Vercelli agree to make use in future of the exact title conferred by the Jury. Any misuse will be prosecuted.
14) The first 3 Laureates of the Piano Competition will have to perform without a fee at the gala concert of the Competition on November 18th 2007 in Vercelli. The first prize winner or the best laureate of the Piano Competition 2007 will be invited, against remuneration, for some concerts in the week following the end of the Piano Competition.

APPLICATION FORM
The application form completed in all its parts must be sent to the Segreteria del Concorso Gian Battista Viotti, Via Monte di Pietà 39 - 13100 Vercelli (Italy), no later than 30 September 2007 together with:
a) copy of a birth certificate or equivalent document (passport, identity card etc.). When drawing, all contestants are requested to produce the Secretary of the Jury a valid document;
b) a copy of a certificate testifying his/her musical studies. A candidate who studied privately must enclose a statement from his/her teacher;
c) curriculum vitae and typewritten details of musical and artistic education and of prizes won at other Competitions;
d) three recent photographs carrying the applicant’s name on the back: two passport-size photograph and an artistic photograph;
e) the musical program for the competition with approximate timings for each work.
f) a receipt showing that the entrance fee has been paid.

Those candidates whose application form is incomplete and whose entrance fee is unpaid within the set time limit should not be allowed to compete. In no circumstances can the entrance fee be refunded (see paragraph 10).

The entrance fee amounting to 90 (ninety) Euro, must be sent by postal order payable to the:
